BRO (Border Roads Organisation) started clearing snow on Thursday, 19th March 2015. A team of 100 soldiers and 10 machines started clearing snow from Rohtang Pass assuring that Rohtang Pass will be opened till May for general traffic. Road from Manali to Sarchu en routes few of the world’s highest Passes. Many areas are covered with 30-35 ft of snow and will be a really tough job for BRO to clear and maintain these roads. Gulaba, 21 Kms from Manali is having around 10 ft snow.
Bara-lacha La at an altitude of 4,890 m (16,040 ft) in Zanskar Range is having around 30 ft of Snow and will be most touch time consuming job for soldiers.
